Questions

No question is too awkward.

The things people often wonder, answered plainly.

Starting out

Do I need to be in a “bad place” to start therapy?

Not at all. Therapy isn’t only for bad days. Many people come because something feels a little off, they’re going through a change, or they simply want space to think out loud.

I don’t know what to say. Is that okay?

Completely. You don’t need to prepare or have the right words. Amukta will gently guide the conversation, and “I’m not sure where to start” is a perfectly good first sentence.

Is there a free first call?

Yes. Leave your name and number on the booking page and Amukta will call you back during the day, whenever she’s free (there’s no slot to pick). Tell her a little about what’s going on, ask your questions, and see whether it feels like a good fit. There’s no obligation to book further.

How do I know if we’re a good fit?

The free 15-minute call and the first session are both partly about exactly that. You’ll get a feel for how Amukta works and whether it feels comfortable. If it doesn’t, that’s okay. She can help point you towards someone who might suit you better.

What are Amukta’s qualifications?

Amukta holds an MSc Psychology (Clinical) and has 2 years of practice, with more than 100 sessions held. She works with adults, teenagers and children, and also counsels in schools and runs corporate sessions.

Can I message before booking?

Yes. Send a DM on Instagram (@awkward.mind) or use the contact page. Asking questions first is very welcome.

Sessions

How long is a session?

Each session is 45–60 minutes. The free intro call is 15 minutes.

When are sessions available?

Monday to Saturday, at 7–8 am, 7–8 pm, 8–9 pm. If none of these suit you, mention it when you get in touch.

Is online or in person better?

Both work well. Online is easy to fit into your week from anywhere. In person, you meet somewhere calm and private around Balewadi–Baner, Pune, like a quiet café or a private co-working meeting room. You can switch between them.

Do you work with children and teenagers?

Yes. Amukta works with teenagers and with children, including behaviour therapy and structured courses. For anyone under 18, a parent or guardian is involved in booking and in agreeing how sessions will work.

Do you work with schools or companies?

Yes. Amukta offers school counselling on a freelance basis and corporate wellbeing sessions. Get in touch through the contact page with a little about your school or team.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you’re hoping for. Some people come for a few sessions around one thing; others prefer ongoing support. You decide, and you can pause or stop whenever you like.

How often do we meet?

Usually once a week or once every two weeks to begin with. We’ll find a rhythm that works for you.

What language are sessions in?

Sessions are in English, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada.

Practical bits

How much does a session cost?

Sessions starting from ₹700. The first 15-minute call is free, and Amukta can answer any questions about fees then. If cost is a worry, please mention it. It’s always okay to ask.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens. Please let Amukta know as early as you can. The full details are on the session policies page.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What you share stays between you and Amukta. The only exceptions are the ones every therapist is bound by, such as when someone’s safety is at serious risk. These are explained in your first session.

Important

Is this an emergency service?

No. Awkward Mind can’t offer crisis support or respond round the clock. If you or someone else is in danger, please call 112 or see the urgent help page.

Whenever you’re ready.

Start with a free 15-minute call. Sessions from ₹700, online or in person in Pune.
