About
Hi, I’m Amukta.
Unpacking the ‘awkward’. Rooted in change. Helping others find their ground.
My story
A fauji kid who learned that home can be a feeling.
I grew up an army kid. New cities, new schools, and every couple of years a new version of “fitting in”. Nine schools across six states taught me exactly what it feels like to be the new one in the room, a little out of place and a little awkward.
It also taught me that people carry a lot quietly. That’s what drew me to psychology, and to the slow, steady work of helping someone feel grounded wherever they are.
I hold an MSc Psychology (Clinical). I’ve been in practice for 2 years and have held more than 100 sessions, online and in Pune. I work with adults, teenagers and children (including behaviour therapy and courses), counsel students in schools, and run wellbeing sessions for companies.
Awkward Mind is the space I wish I’d had growing up: somewhere you don’t have to perform, explain yourself, or have it all together.

Outside the therapy room
Also a person who overthinks pizza orders.
Therapists are people too. I get nervous, I get things wrong, and I take far too long to decide what to eat.

How I work
What you can expect.
Safe
Nothing you bring is too much, too small or too strange.
Honest
Plain words, no jargon, and gentle honesty when it helps.
Grounded
Calm and steady. We go at your pace, never faster.
A little awkward
Human, warm and never perfect. Neither is life.
What we can work on
You don’t need the right words to begin.
People come to me with all kinds of things. Some know exactly what’s wrong; many just know something feels off. Both are a perfectly good place to start.
- Stress and anxiety
- Moving, change and starting over
- Feeling stuck or low
- Relationships and family
- Self-worth and self-doubt
- Work, studies and burnout
- Loneliness and belonging
- Just wanting to understand yourself
“You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin.”
